The Company at the Dancer’s EDGE is our award-winning team of dancers who compete in various regional competitions throughout the Midwest. They are students who love to dance and want a faster, more challenging track to becoming a better dancer. We strive to offer our Company dancers the very best in weekly instruction, master classes, top-notch choreography, and great competition experiences. Dancers learn teamwork, responsibility, and dedication, in addition to developing lasting friendships with other company members.
+ Who is eligible for the Company?
Anyone who will be in Level 2 or higher during the Summer 2018/School Year 2018-2019 seasons can audition. Students who show a particular aptitude for Company will be invited to audition via their Spring level placement notes. Outside students are also more than welcome to attend our auditions if they have reached an equivalent level at their respective studio. Please contact email@example.com if you have questions about whether Company is right for your student.
+ When are Company Auditions?
Company auditions are held each Spring for the upcoming year. Students need to attend only one audition day. For specific times and more details, please pick up a Company Info Packet at our front desk.
+ What is the time commitment?
Company kicks off during our Summer 2018 session and runs through School Year 2018-2019, concluding with our annual Recital in June. Company members enroll in a class block for technique training in Ballet and Jazz. The length and frequency of that class block varies based on the student’s age/level. Please see the specific schedule below for more details. Students also have the option of adding on additional classes in Hip Hop, Tap, Acro, Lyrical and/or Pointe. What if my student wants to take other genres besides Ballet and Jazz? The Company core program focuses on Ballet and Jazz, though students are welcome and encouraged to continue to take other genres as an add-on option to the core program. Students can select from Hip Hop, Tap, Acro, Lyrical, and/or Pointe classes in addition to their Company core class block.
+ Does my student have to take the Summer session in order to be in Company?
Yes, all Company members are required to take Summer classes to begin working on their technique. We also start our competition routines towards the end of the Summer. Additionally, all Company members are required to attend our 4-day Company Intensive each Summer - scheduled for June 19th-22nd, 2018.
+ How many competitions does the Company attend each year?
The Company attends 3 regional competitions between January and May each year, as well as 1 convention weekend. These events generally take up most of the weekend, so plan on blocking out 4 weekends on your student’s calendar in order to participate in Company. Exact competition dates are decided each Fall after competitions release their schedules.
+ What is the cost to participate in Company?
This varies based on the age/level of the student as well as the number of competition routines they choose to participate in. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for a Company Packet with specific details.
