Monthly tuition payments

Tuition payments will be due and payable the first lesson of every month, except for the first month’s tuition which is due at registration in order to hold your place in the class. The summer session will have two payments- the first due at summer registration and the second due at the first lesson in July. The school-year session is composed of 36 weeks of instruction divided into nine equal payments- the first due at fall registration, and the eight subsequent payments due the first class in every month (October-May).

The Dancer’s EDGE strives to be a very affordable and convenient choice for dance education in the area. We believe that families are better able to budget their finances if a consistent timeframe is in place. Additionally, you may contact the Dancer’s EDGE if you are interested in having your monthly tuition automatically withdrawn from your debit/credit card or may choose to pay for multiple months or the entire session’s tuition at once. The Dancer’s EDGE accepts cash, check, Visa and MasterCard.

Monthly statements will be emailed on the first of the month. Feel free to inquire in the office about the status of your account at any point in time. A $10 late fee will be charged to your account for any payments not received by the 10th of the month. The Dancer’s EDGE reserves the right to cancel classes with five or fewer people, and in this instance, you will receive a full tuition refund.

Costume payments

All costume payments are due by December 1st. Costume prices run between $55 and $75 per class based on the age/size of the dancer and the costume chosen. The Dancer’s EDGE understands the need to keep these costumes as affordable as possible and requires its instructors to choose costumes under certain price limits depending on the level of the class. We cannot, however, control the rising cost of costumes and shipping/handling. All students have the option of paying an additional $15 each month from September through December per class ($60) instead of paying the entire costume fee in December. After exact costume prices are known for each class, any remaining balance from the $60 prepaid fee will be credited to your account or any additional money due will be payable by December 1st. No refunds will be allowed on costumes once orders have been placed.

Class Discounts

At the Dancer’s EDGE we strive to enable all students to become the best dancers they can be. Often times this level of technique is only achieved when multiple classes across different disciplines are taken each week. Additionally, the Dancer’s Edge prides itself on being a family-oriented organization that promotes involvement from parents and students alike. While the students are taking hip hop, parents have the opportunity to take a ballroom class right across the hall. Because of this emphasis on family involvement and solid technical work, the Dancer’s EDGE offers the following discounts:

  • Discounts
    • If a family is taking four or more classes at the Dancer’s EDGE, they will receive a 10% discount off of their total tuition.
    • If a family is taking eight or more classes at the Dancer’s EDGE, they will receive a 15% discount off of their total tuition.
    • Because of their short time duration, Pointe classes are not eligible for discounts.

Attendance & Cancellations

Attendance

Regular attendance is imperative to the dancer’s ability to develop their technique and strength. The student is responsible for the entire tuition amount regardless of attendance, and no refunds will be given for missed classes.

Dancers are allowed to make up any missed classes (including classes cancelled due to weather) in another class of equal or lesser leveling.

Observation

Parents are always welcome and encouraged to observe weekly classes from our lobby through the large viewing windows. In order to limit class disruptions, all younger students and siblings must be supervised in the lobby at all times. Parents are allowed into the classrooms at the consent of the instructor, but please be courteous and limit entry/exit only when classes begin/end, turn off all cell phones and other devices that could be a distraction to our dancers.

Cancellation of class enrollment

Once registered, your first month’s tuition payment holds your place in class. Notify us in writing immediately if your child will no longer be a student of the Dancer’s EDGE. We will continue to charge your account and the student will continue to be enrolled in the class until we have written notice on file in our office. Billing on your account will not cease until the 1st of the next month after having received written notification. Special consideration for a refund earlier in the month may be given to a student with a documented medical condition at the discretion of the Dancer’s EDGE. The Dancer’s EDGE also reserves the right to withhold any and all refunds if the student’s account is past due.

Inclement weather

The Dancer’s EDGE will follow the Cedar Rapids Community School district’s decision in the event of bad weather. If a full snow day is called, all classes will be cancelled at the studio. In the event of a two-hour delay, all afternoon/evening classes will still be held. All inquiries as to the status of evening/weekend classes may be answered by calling the studio and listening to the voicemail message or by checking our website. Remember these classes may be made up in an alternate class time of that level or in a lesser level.
